Thanks to Heather, here’s some new pictures of Gael from Rudo Y Cursi:
Gael will play Toto, who wants to be a singer. Diego will play Beto, who wants to be a football player. The film tells the story of two brothers who wants to be “someone in life” and that put brotherhood, passion and talent to the test.
A new poster came out for Blindness with Gael, check it out and also the trailer was released by Alliance Films (captures soon). Here’s the new trailer for the movie ‘Blindess’:
Gael was, this weekend, at the Provincetown International Film Festival, unfortunately I didn’t find any pictures of him at the event yet (still looking . Although here’s an article talking about the moment he received the Excellence in Acting Award. Congrats Gael!
Perhaps the most touching moment of the weekend came when diminutive Mexican heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal accepted the Excellence in Acting Award. “I feel like Miss Mexico,” he said through tears. Tarantino (who recieved the award Filmmaker on the Edge Award), of course, could not resist a reply, cooing “I feel like Miss Guatemala.”
Update! And here’s another piece of article about it:
Bernal said he appreciated the honor “very much” and that he’s “been lucky” in his career. Of his forthcoming film, Blindness, he can only say, “I saw it once and I thought it was interesting, and then I saw it again and I have much hope for it.”
The premiere of “Rudo Y Cursi” is set to be on December 19. “Rudo y Cursi”, filmed last year in Manzanillo and the Federal District, tells the story of two brothers who love football.
The film is the first co-production between Cha Cha Cha and Universal Studios.
Last June, during a break from filming, Carlos Cuaron, the film director, said the history does not seem at all to “Y Tu Mama Tambien”, which he was the screenwriter. “Two years ago, in a restaurant, I talked to the two of them (Gael and Diego), without the script, and they loved the idea. More than a friendship, the film is about brotherhood (…). Football is just the context (…)”, he said.
This is the directorial debut of Carlos Cuaron, Alfonso Cuaron’s younger brother. The shooting of the film ended at mid-August last year.
